Growing up in Halifax, Isabelle was surrounded by the strong Celtic music tradition here on the East Coast. She started learning the Celtic harp, playing traditional Irish and Scottish music. Isabelle fell in love with the harp and expanded her learning to classical pedal harp a few years later. Isabelle continues to play both classical and Celtic tunes and is now diving into the world of electric harp and pop music.
Isabelle has had the opportunity to perform with the Ottawa Parkdale Orchestra, Ottawa Chamber Orchestra, the Halifax Summer Opera Festival, Symphony Nova Scotia, and for many private events in Ottawa and Halifax. For Isabelle, the most exciting part of music is the community and connection between the artists and the audience.
As an educator, Isabelle takes a student-centered approach. She tailors each lesson to individual student goals and learning style. Isabelle is passionate that music lessons should be fun and engaging, all while building essential musical skills. Her goal is to teach students the musical skills they need to express themselves and play the music they love. Isabelle believes that anyone can learn music – it is never too late to start! She enjoys working with students of all ages.
As well as performing and teaching, Isabelle is a music school administrator. She helps facilitate lessons and community performances for students here in Halifax, at Merry Time Music Co.
Isabelle started learning the harp here in Halifax, in the studio of Ellen Gibling.
